About Hart

About Hart

Hart parish comprises Hart village and its surrounding farms, Hart reservoir, Hart quarry and Kingfisher Road on the Bishop Cuthbert estate in Hartlepool. The map on this page demonstrates just how rural the parish is.

Hart is an historic village, probably Saxon in origin, though the area may have been inhabited even earlier. The history of Hart has been the subject of many years of research by archaeologists and villagers alike; the results of this research will be found on this web-site at a future date.

The Hart to Haswell Countryside Walkway and Mountain Bike Track cuts across the north-east corner of the parish.

Hart's population at the 2016 census was 780, spread over just under 4 square miles.

More detail about some of the key points of interest will be added shortly, but useful web-sites are below.

Key Points of Interest:

Hart has an active community life, with an Events group organising a wide range of activities and a busy village hall hosting many groups; the parish church and village school also contribute to what makes Hart a special place to live.

The Reverend Canon Janet Burbury is the present incumbent and can be contacted at: The Vicarage, Hart, Hartlepool. TS27 3AP. Tel: 01429 262340 or janetb_231@hotmail.co.uk.

For information on what is currently happening in Hart, go to the Hart Village hub page on Facebook. Facebook also hosts pages for Hart Village Events, and Hart Village Hall.

The village has many flower tubs, especially in Front Street, which are planted and maintained by villagers, adding a wonderful splash of colour and perfume, especially in the summer.

We are also very fortunate to have a Defibrillator unit, placed on the external wall of the Village Hall in Front Street.
